Readme.txt KIP driver for AutoCAD Release 14 Installation Instructions: 1. Shut down AutoCAD 2. Run install program INSTALL.EXE and follow the directions that display on your monitor. This will install the necessary file onto your computer. 3. Start AutoCAD. Under the "File" menu, choose Printer Setup, or enter: config This will take you to the Preferences dialog. 4. Choose the "Printer" tab and select the "New" button. 5. Choose the KIP driver from the list of available printer driver. Answer any questions and save the new configuration. 6. Enter KIPCONFIG at AutoCAD's command prompt. This will start up the KIP printer configuration utility. Additional AutoCAD tip If you want a shorter command instead of KIPCONFIG, set up a command alias. In AutoCAD's "suport" folder, there is a text file "acad.pgp". Open this file in a text editor. Toward the bottom is a list of sample aliases for AutoCAD commands. Add the following line to the list of aliases. KIP, *KIPCONFIG Now, the KIP configuration utility will start when you enter either KIP or KIPCONFIG at AutoCAD command line. Trouble executing KIPCONFIG Command If AutoCAD does not run the KIPCONFIG command after the installation described above. Do the following: Find the file acad.rx which should be in the main AutoCAD directory such as c:\Program Files\AutoCAD 14. This is a text file with a list of .arx file names to load at startup. Add the line: kipcon at the end of this file. If the file doesn't exist, create it. You should then see a line about KIPCONFIG flash by when you start AutoCAD, and the KIPCONFIG command will be active. Manual Instructions for Complete Uninstallation 1. IMPORTANT: Before you remove any driver files, first remove any printer configurations from AutoCAD that utilize the KIP driver, If you do not do this, AutoCAD will consider the files to be missing and fail to restart. 2. Remove 6 driver files: 1. plkip14.dll, plkip14.exe, plkip14.hlp and plkip14.ini from AutoCAD's "Drv" folder. 2. kipcon.arx and kipcon.dcl from AutoCAD's "Support" folder 3. In AutoCAD's "Support" folder, there is file acadr14.lsp. The KIP driver installation program has added 3 lines at the end of this text file. These lines tell AutoCAD now to recognize the KIPCONFIG command. Remove these lines. In the same folder, the installation program has also left a backup copy of your acadr14.lsp file as it was before the KIP modifications. This file is named acadr14.xxx where xxx is a number starting a 000 and incrementing higher with successive modifications. You can use this file to help restore your acadr14.lsp to its original state, and then discard it.
